One of our great strengths at NDOrtho is our dedicated team of nurses, reception staff and practice co-ordinators. Without them we could not provide the service that our patients enjoy on a daily basis.
Jan Tanton- Reception Manager
Jan has been the friendly familiar face at the front desk for some time now at NDOrtho. She qualified as a Nurse in 1987 and spent her first working years in general practice. She joined NDOrtho in 1995 and gained her qualification in dental radiography. These days Jan mainly stays on the desk in her role as Reception Manager. Jan is very passionate about music and is no stranger to the occasional festival in the summer.
‘I have been with NDOrtho for twenty years and still thoroughly enjoy my career choice.’

Ben Ainger- Reception
Ben started working at NDOC six years ago when he was in sixth form. He has since been to university in Manchester where he was taught by some world-leading physicists including Prof. Brian Cox. He now holds a degree in Physics with Astrophysics and is back on reception to develop his customer skills and lend us his mathematical expertise. He is a regular gym goer and likes to stay on top of his nutrition. He is also a keen sportsman and has turned his hand to pretty much any sport you care to mention. His main sporting passions are surfing, snowboarding, hockey and football. He can usually be found in the sea, pumping iron or following the score of the Leeds United game.
Sarah Oades- Practice Co-ordinator
Sarah has worked behind the scenes at NDOC in admin and HR roles since 2008. No stranger to orthodontic treatment herself, her main aim is to ensure the staff are content, incentivised, well looked after and clinically up-to-date.
Sarah is paediatric first aid qualified. She has also just completed her BTEC Level 5 in Management and Leadership – results pending!
“We are blessed with a team of loyal, hardworking and generally wonderful team of staff. My aim is to keep it that way”
As mum of four children, time is a precious commodity and Sarah credits weight-lifting and kickboxing with keeping her fit and able to lead such a busy life. Sarah is passionate about snowboarding and like Jan, loves attending musical festivals and gigs. Sarah recently gained her paediatric first aid qualification and is working towards her NVQ Level 5 Management Higher Apprenticeship – a course that earns her the right to carry an NUS card!
Kate Sloman – PA
Kate joined our administration team in December 2014 having worked as a PA/Office Manager for a local Construction Company for the past 12 years. Her main hobby is singing and dancing in amateur musicals in the local theatre and she has a passion for fundraising. Her most recent charity event involved organising a cake sale with her mum which raised a massive £1050 for CHSW and MNDA and fed the bellies of staff at work for a good few days! Kate enjoys new challenges and has started observing in clinic, which she loves.
